Scalable EV Charging Solutions for Today and the Future

Before we start designing an EV charging solution for you, we first need to understand what your EV program vision looks like. Fleet electrification planning is complex and requires specialized expertise. Our EV experts will engage with you early in the process to fully understand your organization’s objectives, timeline, and budget as it relates to your electric vehicle initiatives to ensure we design an electric vehicle charging program that fits your needs today and into the future.

Once we have the necessary foundation of information, Chateau Energy will perform due diligence on your portfolio of sites to identify and prioritize which locations have the greatest potential. Not all sites are created equal when it comes to EV charger installation. A site assessment will determine the power capacity, space, and condition of the current electrical infrastructure. A review of zoning and easements and analysis of existing power sources will also be completed.

After reviewing the site assessment information, Chateau Energy starts the concept development stage. This includes determining how many vehicles per location, the type of EV charger that best matches your needs, the type and level of charging equipment, the charging management strategies, and calculating for future fleet growth. From that, we design a customized EV charging program for each site, including civil and electrical engineering, network controls, charging equipment specifications, and lighting and security needs.

Stages of EV Design and Engineering

Creating a customized EV program includes:

  • Site selection to perform due diligence on potential target sites
  • Site assessment to determine the capacity and condition of the current electrical infrastructure
  • Electrical inspection of transformers, switch gears, charging units, and breakers
  • Utility interface to ensure proper infrastructure for EV integration
  • Concept development to develop a high-level program, including equipment, charging, and demand management strategies
  • Design including civil and electrical
  • Sizing infrastructure to establish exactly what is the best type of EV charger for your specific needs
  • Scalable EV charging infrastructure to ensure your organization will have capacity for future EV charging growth
  • Permitting applications for building and electrical as well as scheduling inspections
  • EV demand response (DR) strategies to help minimize energy costs
